Showing Up When It Is Hard

There is a particular kind of quiet resolve required to show up for genuinely difficult work on precisely the days it feels hardest to do so, when motivation happens to be at its very lowest point and the task ahead offers little to no immediate, visible reward for the effort involved at all.
This particular resolve is rarely dramatic in the actual moment it occurs to the person experiencing it; it looks like simply getting dressed, arriving right on time regardless, and doing the work anyway, without any outward sign at all of the real effort required to manage it that particular day.
Over the course of an entire career or a whole life, these unremarkable moments of simply showing up tend to matter considerably more in the end than any single dramatic act of visible courage ever really could achieve entirely on its own accord and timing alone, ever.
