This particular kind of support often requires real patience from those involved, since policy change tends to move rather slowly through official channels, and advocates rarely see any immediate results from the considerable effort they put into raising awareness or pushing for genuine improvement over many long, patient years.
Effective advocacy tends to be well informed and genuinely sustained over time, built on a real understanding of what a service actually needs on the ground, rather than resting on assumptions made casually from the outside looking in without much real knowledge of the actual work involved on the ground each day.
